I have finished,,,

so called Ugly fabrics that were sent to me in the Popular Patchwork forum swap,,,, well,, I made

Mr Owl,,,,he didn't win the little competition,, but he won my heart when I made him.

Now for my Ta-Dah moment,,,,,,,,

 My Hexie quilt is finished,,,,,

 It's not perfect,,,,

 It's not pretty,,,

 But it's mine,,,, and I am making a label for it this afternoon.

All handstitched,,,, and I still have some hexies left over,,,, bound to be made into cushion covers sometime in the future!!
I made this notebook cover for a friend's birthday next week,, she loves Sunbonnet Sue.

 My first time at making a cover,, not bad if I say so myself!!

Life goes on,,,,

and I am working on my Hexie quilt,, slowly!

 This shows the back,, obviously,, and I am just quilting the green 'flowers',,,

 with this lovely thread by Presencia,  (no:8),,,,, the backing fabric is a dark green,,

Should finish quilting it soon,, then I just have to decide what I am going to do with the edges!!

My Son and Gs were down visiting recently, and we decided to take them to Lyme Regis. It was not a very warm day,,

 Gs wanted to take his shoes and socks off as soon as he touched the sand,,,

 The sun was out,,, but so was the wind,,,,

 My castle was the best,, the one in the middle,, mind you, the surveyors would have condemned it for being unsafe!!

Grandad took him up there,, on the big rocks,,, had a bit of trouble coming back down!!!!

I went to our local car boot fair yesterday, and picked up this little sewing box for £2.00,,,,

 and it wasn't empty,,,,the little blue case has a small pair of scissors, a needle or two and some thread and a thimble in it.

 The reels of thread are mainly Sylko,,, and some buttons to add to my collection!

I am still waiting to get some fabric to finish of my Redwork quilt,, it has not been forgotten!!

Creations,,,

but not mine.
I went to the South West quilt show last Sunday, at Westpoint, Exeter. It is quite a small show, with plenty of elbow room at the stalls, and around the quilts! And as I went on the Sunday,,,, not overly busy. I must remember next year,, wear more layers! I put the quilt show gloves on to warm my hands up!!!
I only took two pictures of quilts that I really liked,, and if the owners want me to remove them from this post, then I will do so.

 I love these sort of scrappy quilts, one day I will make one!!!

 And this is just so cute,,,,

I did spend a little money there as well,,

Some thread for my Hexie quilt,, I want to do some Big Stitch quilting on it,, a little ribbon, a long tape measure, a new thimble (when I hand quilt the hexie, this will come in handy),, oh, and some fabric!!!

The South West quilters asked the quilt groups a couple of years ago to make a banner representing their group,,,and my little group made one. It is the 2nd from the left. Maybees,, from Yeovil.

There are 12 of us and we each made a square,, and one of us put it together!
Only one more 'flower' to make and sew on to my Hexie top,,, yippee!!

Spring,,,,,

I would like to thank all of my readers that take the time to comment on my blog. I do read all the comments,, but as some of you are no reply bloggers, I don't always reply.

I think Spring is finally arriving,,,,

I walked to the post office and went past a field of Sheep with their babies!!! So cute,,   and look at the colour of the sky,,,, lovely!!

I have finished all my red 9 patch blocks and stitched them together.

No idea why the bottom picture is that way,, I did straighten it before hand,,, never mind, just turn your head to the left!!! I have to put borders on it,, but at least the main bit is done.
I am making progress on my Hexie quilt as well,,,,,, but no pictures yet.

A Day Out,,,

Tuesday was a beautiful day, after the fog lifted,,, particularly in the South-west of England. My DH and I took a drive out to Lyme Regis,,,, I have never been there before,, and it is Lovely!!

 The car park we parked in is at the top,,,but is one of the cheapest,,, at £1.70 for 24 hours!!!

 When I first saw these steps,,, I was a bit daunted,,, but there weren't as many as I thought.

Nice empty beach,, so, so quiet!! And the sky,, it was so blue,,,

 I have been told that the area hasn't changed much over the years,,,

 We stopped for a coffee, as you do,, in a small place called Aroma,, very friendly.

 Taking the above picture made me want to get out a sketch book,,

This little shop was closed due to a powercut,,, shame,, I would have liked a look around.

 This wall is in 'The French Lieutenants Woman',, never seen the film myself, but I have seen the scene.

 This little thing was sunbathing near to us on the beach.

 DH bought me lunch,,, lovely Fish and Chips,,, have to when you are at the seaside,,,couldn't eat it all though!!!

I have made something using them,, but am keeping it under wraps for now.
I have been hard at work on my Hexie quilt,, I need to get it finished,,, It is 5 foot wide, not sure of the length yet.

It only took,,,

3 months to knit my shawl.

Lala's Simple Shawl from the Ravelry site. I used James C Brett Marble yarn in shade 11. I started this on the 4/11/12 and I finished it on the 11/2/13. I had fun blocking it as well. Never done that before with knitted items,, not sure why.
Ta-dah,,,,,,,,,,,,

I couldn't get a decent flat shot inside,, so I took it outside and wrapped it around a tree stump that is in the communal garden area. Goodness knows what my neighbours thought,,,,,,
I am making a little progress on my redwork 9 patches,, hope to get some more done over the weekend.

We had a visit from my DS and GS recently,,,, took them to Caen Hill Locks,, and forgot a buggy for the little man,,,, he got tired!!!
